Howardville 07

Hi there folks,

If any of you are actually still checking this thing, Mark and I are sad to report that there will be no Howardville race this year due to unforseen circumstances. For those of you looking forward to this year's race, we do apologize. If you would like to be e-mailed with updates in regards to a 2008 race, please e-mail 8hoursofhowardville@gmail.com and/or check this blog.

News

Hi Folks, just a few updates for you. First of all good news: the 04 Video is finally complete. We will begin sending the 04 DVD's out to the team captains next week (team captains, feel free to contact to me (Mark) to arrange picking up the videos if you prefer).

Secondly, we've detected a scorekeeping error regarding the first lap of 8 Hours of Howardville 06. Jeffrey Ellias explains:
"Just letting you know that I found something wrong with your race results concerning my first lap. I think the time on my first lap should actually be a minute shorter than what it shows. As you can see in the picture that I sent you, I am in front of Warren Thiessen and I know that I was the second guy to finish the first lap. But according to your stats I was about a minute behind Warren and Patrick Siemens. Which is clearly not right . . . Thanks, Jeffrey"
Thanks Jeff for your honesty, we'll try to make sure that doesn't happen again!

Lastly, we are beginning our work on the 06 Video in earnest. What we really need from people are pictures, music, and video ideas (thanks again to those who have already submitted to us). One teaser about the video though: I daresay it contains the best crash out of any of our race videos so far (seriously!). Anyway, take care and stay tuned to our blog for future updates!

Thanks to those of you who have already shared your thoughts!

Book it on your calendars and start training (and nagging your friends to join your team):

8 Hours of Howardville 07: September 29, 2007!

Well done Racers! 06 is a Success!

Greetings!

We just wanted to thank you for another great race! After a year's hiatus, 8 Hours of Howardville returned with arguably our most competitive stable of racers ever! Thanks to everyone who came out, raced, volunteered, cheered people on, and basically just contributed to a fantastic experience. We were very thankful for the weather (thanks God), safety, and all the details working out (we were a bit rusty after a two years. Here are a few news updates:

-After a myriad of setbacks (some which are so painful I cannot even discuss them here without sending Jay into a deep depression) we are close to completion on our 04 video. Thank you so much for your patience.

-As we approach our 06 video we are looking for suggestions on music content. What would you like to hear yourself biking to? Thousand Foot Krutch? Three Days Grace? Anne Murray? Leave your ideas in the comment section.

-Race Stats: We should have these by the end of this week. Sorry that our printer on site ran out of ribbon (yes, ribbon, we are old school!) and it has taken so long to find out where they went after the race. We will email them out as soon as we get them!

-We are looking for any pictures you might have snapped at the race (we concentrate only video footage). If you have any, can you email them to us? We'd like to include them on our 06 DVD (and maybe post a few on the blog as well.

Pledge Form

For those of you who have raised money for Ramona, here's our official pledge form! We're also going to have a donation box on site, and everyone that donates is entered into a draw for a free night's stay at the Radisson Downtown! Those who turn in pledge forms are also eligible for the draw, of course.

Prizes!

Hey all,

Just wanted to give a quick mention about the prizes we've got this year. So far I've got prizes from Moutain Eqiupment Co-op, the Winnipeg Goldeyes, and the Radisson hotel (and I'm expecting some stuff from Pepsi as well). We've got water bottles, bike lights, an MEC backpack (I want it so badly!), a stay at the Radisson hotel, and more! If you know of anyone who would like to donate a prize, have them get in touch with us!

We haven't decided what to give prizes out for yet, so if you have any ideas for fun prize categories, leave a comment!

I would also like to reiterate the fundraising aspect of this years race. Let's see how much money we can raise to help Ramona Reimer in her battle with cancer! We should have pledge forms up in a day or two. I've heard that there may even be a prize for the top fundraiser...

Early Bird Extension

We've gotten lots of people who are emailing/calling us asking about the deadline for early bird registrations. I'm happy to let you know that we are extending the deadline on these from the 15 to the 20th of September. Also, those of you who are having trouble getting your forms fully filled out by the deadline, relax! Just send a list of those on your team along (identifying the team captain) along with a cheque into us postmarked before or on the 20th and you'll still receive the early bird bonus. Just email us to let us know it's coming (or leave a comment on the blog) and send it to the address below:
